Every day I work on discovering and creating an AHmazing Life by being authentically happy through learning and leading.
I'm Angie Houloose (pronounced like hallucination - without the "ination") and I'm your Consignment Consultant. I'd describe myself as a creatively-complicated-organized lover of angel wings - not only because of my name, but because I believe we have the power to soar beyond our comfort zone and surpass that which we seem to set for ourselves. It can be hard. It can be tricky. But it can be freeing.
Along the way I learned a lot of what to do, but more importantly, what NOT to do. Those, I've decided are some of the best life lessons we are ever taught.
In the summer of 2019, I was a bit discombobulated about my direction, but in hindsight, I'm able to see it all clearly. There was a storm brewing no one saw coming or could have even predicted. 2020 was a path of uncertainty and a path of clarity. It's led me here. It's led you here. Let's see what we can do together.
911 Center
An Omaha-area 911 Center was my career for the beginning of what you'd call my adult life. I spent 20 years in an environment which can be minefield of emotions from overwhelming heartbreak to overwhelming joy, from chase to boredom and laughter to tears. The latter part of that journey was as the Training Manager creating policies and procedures, learning about risk management along with the development and implementation of a Communications Training Officer program to ensure the safety of the responders and public.
Absolutely Her #1
On September 27, 2011 at 1:00pm, I officially created a store I fell in love with as the key turned and the door opened. Within the walls of Absolutely Her, you'd find an experience which went against the norm of what a consignment store should look like here in the Omaha metro area.
Within a short time period, I outgrew my initial space (aka: the baby store" and moved into a bigger location right next door. This gave me the opportunity to expand into gifts and small home decor.
Absolutely Her #2
Specializing in unique displays and environment (along with stellar bag sales), AH won numerous Best of Omaha awards along with the Omaha & Sarpy County Readers Choice Awards.
Just shy of 8 years, I made the decision (was kinda made for more, actually) to close my consignment store. I locked her doors on August 31, 2019 at 4:07pm. 2,895 days, 3 hours and 7 minutes to be exact. It was bitter-sweet as it ended, but was invaluable for what it taught me.
And Now Today
While I was a store owner, I was a member of NARTS: The Association of Resale Professionals. I have been asked to speak and present workshops on numerous occasions with topics including processes, hiring & team building/employees, developing the right environment for your store and creating displays.
I continue being a part of this organization as an affiliate member where I support store owners in their operations as well as continuing to present for their conferences.
